After a long, hard morning of shopping, I decided to stop and have a late lunch at Fig & Olive, located in the Houston Galleria. I have to start by saying that the ambiance of this restaurant makes you feel like you are in an oasis in the madhouse that is the Galleria and surrounding area. The cool color palette and spacious floor plan made me feel relaxed immediately. My friends and I took a look at the cocktail menu, but ultimately opted for a bottle of wine.
We ordered three crostini: Forrest Mushroom, Goat Cheese, and Smoked Salmon. All three were so good in their own right that I regret not trying the other crostini options. We devoured them so fast that I was unable to get a picture.
We were just in time to order off of the brunch menu, so my friend ordered the Caviar and Salmon Poached Eggs. (See photo below). I chose the Fig & Olive Salad and added a grilled shrimp skewer. (See photo below). Everything was plated beautifully, and all of the ingredients were fresh. Everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their entrees. It was clear that someone in the kitchen knew what they were doing.
Overall, I had a great dining experience at Fig & Olive Houston and will be going back to try more crostini!
